Swedish soldier injured by bomb in Afghanistan
A Swedish soldier was injured in an explosion in Afghanistan, reports news agency TT. However the injury is not serious, according to the Swedish Armed Forces.
The explosion occurred in an area outside of Mazar-e-Sharif. Several weeks ago, a 23-year-old Swedish soldier was severely injured in that area. Both of his legs were amputated.
The soldier injured today was traveling together with Finnish solider in a personal terrain vehicle when the bomb exploded. The Finnish soldier was not injured.
Both were flown to a field hospital in the area.
Philip Simon, the press secretary for the Swedish Armed Forces, says the area around Mazar-e-Sharif is dangerous. The Swedish and Finnish soldiers were participating in a large military operation there.
