The deadline to hand in the tax return for last year has been postponed for one day, as technical problems has meant that it has been difficult for people to get through to the Tax Office on the phone for last minute advice.

Instead of having until midnight on Wednesday evening, people now have until midnight on Thursday. Many people have however already filed their tax return online. Late on Wednesday afternoon, over 4,5 million Swedes had already made use of the electronic option to file the tax return.

A delay in filing your tax return for up to 3 months will lead to a fine of thousand Swedish crowns, approximately US $ 150.
