Court upholds verdict for hunter who killed skier
A Court of Appeals on Friday upheld the acquittal of a 32-year-old hunter who accidentally shot and killed a cross-country skier while out hunting elk near Ljungby in southern Sweden in 2010. She was previously found not guilty of manslaughter in a lower court.
In late 2010, the hunter shot and killed a young elk but the single bullet passed through the animal and hit a 71-year-old skier 60 metres away.
The woman was tried for manslaughter late last year in a district court in Växjö and was acquitted although the chairman of the court pressed for a guilty verdict.
