Doctors misdiagnose young women's blod clots

Published söndag 6 maj 2012 kl 10.43

One in three women suffering blod clots believed to be linked to birth control are not correctly diagnosed when they first go to the doctor, reports regional newspaper Göteborgs-Posten.

The finding comes from research by Ian Milsom, gynaecology and obstetrics professor at Gothenburg University, who identifies several cases a year of delayed diagnosis.

Patient Mikaela Lindblom saw her doctor five times for pain in her shoulder and problems breathing but tells the newspaper she was never asked if she took birth control.
