Today,  the first Monday of May, is called Melanoma Monday, part of an international campaign to raise awareness of skin cancer. The aim is for the prevention and early detection of malignant melanoma, the form of cancer that has increased the most over the past twenty years.

Here in Sweden, clinics around the country are open extra today for people who want birthmarks and other skin changes examined.

Around 500 Swedes are expected to die from skin cancer this year.
