The newspaper Sydsvenska Dagbladet reports that a teenager on a work experience program was allowed to cut into a woman undergoing a Caesarian section at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö.

The 15 year old student reportedly had been present for several operations, and on the one occasion was allowed to make an incision. Per Ekström, supervisor of the physician in charge of the operation, says he doesn’t know how deep the incision went, but the doctor involved regrets the incident.

The patient was not informed of the extent of the student’s participation, and Per Ekström says it wouldn’t help anyone to tell her now.

According to the hospital’s rules, minors are not allowed in operation rooms.
