Broken cable closes rail services
Full rail traffic northeast of Malmö is not expected to resume until Friday evening. This follows a broken electrical cable Thursday afternoon that brought traffic between the towns of Hässleholm and Höör to a complete halt.
At least 10,000 travellers on 15 trains have been affected by the failure, as a 16,000 volt short circuit caused both tracks and signalling equipment to melt.
Service on a single track has been restored, but the rail authorities say the second track is not expected to be in operation again until around 9:00 PM Friday night.
