Tap water not up to agency standards

Published lördag 4 augusti 2012 kl 12.24

Nearly 1.5 million Swedes tap their drinking water from water works with inadequate protection against contaminations, according to a survey by the Water and Wastewater Association.

It found that 123 water works did not live up to the National Food Agency's recommendations.

"We think the water works or the municipalities need to carry out risk analyses to assess the dangers they face," says Gullvy Hedenberg, an expert at the Water and Wastewater Association who spoke to Swedish Radio.
