Internet activity on health-related websites increased in Sweden by 12 percent during the first week of this year's Olympics, reports news agency TT.

Statistics from network operator Telia's surf index show that internet activity on sports news websites saw a much higher increase during the London Olympics than during the European football championships earlier this summer, which was expected.

But according to Rune Pedersen, head of consumption at Telia, the rising activity on health websites that coincides with the Olympics could be due to people drawing inspiration from the athletes' impressive physical feats.

"People might get their inspiration from top athletes performing internationally acclaimed displays of fitness", he told TT.
