Plane carrying German couple crashes into lake

On Saturday a small sports plane carrying an elderly German couple crash landed into the Hultebräan lake in the province of Småland, reports news agency TT.

The man was rescued by a fisherman who was in a boat on the lake when it crashed. The woman managed to get out of the plane by climbing on to one of its wings.

According to local rescue services, the man in the fishing boat who saved the German man also alerted the police and ambulance services.

The woman was injured and unable to move from the hips downwards, and was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Karlskrona. The man suffered a punctured lung and head injury, and was taken to a hospital in Kalmar.

The plane sunk to the bottom of lake Hultebräan. The cause of the crash remain unknown.
