Ferry crashes in central Stockholm
Four people were injured when a passenger ferry crashed into the dock near the Skeppsbron bridge in central Stockholm.
The ferry, which normally transports passengers and tourists from the museum island of Djurgården to the island of Södermalm in the south of the capital, crashed into the dock on Saturday evening, causing severe injuries to four of the passengers. Three of these were taken to hospital immediately after rescue services arrived.
As many as eleven other passengers suffered less serious injuries.
"It was very scary to be onboard", Iben Linde, a tourist who was on the ferry when it crashed, told news agency TT.
Rescue services suspect the crash was a result of the ferry captain's inability to reverse the vessel when it was neccessary. Stockholm police are now investigating into the matter. The captain was tested for drunk driving, but no trace of alcohol was found in his system.
