Swedes stranded in Syria after sanctions
Following the recently imposed sanctions against Syria, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt says around 1000 Swedes of Syrian-Kurdish background are stranded there.
They had bought roundtrip tickets with the national carrier Syrian Arab Airlines, which was included in the sanctions imposed by the European Union on July 23.
Carl Bildt tells Swedish Radio News that the consular situation is difficult, but they are trying to get the stranded Swedes home via Turkey.
