International Lighthouse Weekend
This is International Lighthouse and Lightship weekend, and some 70 lighthouses around Sweden are holding open house.
Swedish Radio News visited the century old lighthouse at Hästholmen, a nine meter tall tower looking out over Lake Vättern, alongside the entrance to Hästholmen harbor.
Nowadays the lighthouse is mostly a marker so pleasure boats can locate Hästholmen, but in the past it served a much more important role for commercial shipping.
