Hundreds of Greta Garbo items to go on sale
Hundreds of items belonging to one of Sweden's greatest ever film exports, Greta Garbo, will be auctioned off in December, reports news agency AFP. The actress's "personal collection... has never been previously available and (is) rarely seen by others," the Beverly Hills-based Julien's Auctions said in a statement.
The auction includes designer clothing and accessories as well as furniture and art from her mansion in Sweden and apartment in New York. The auctioneers said Garbo was "known as a stylish and highly imitated trendsetter."
Greta Lovisa Gustafsson was born into an impoverished family in Stockholm in 1905. She died in New York in 1990. Part of her estate was sold off in the same year.
