Many households in the Värmland town of Torsby are being told to boil their drinking water after traces of e-coli bacteria were found at two water treatment plants.

The local council has informed people that anyone who needs water can get it from a tanker truck.

"When the water is drinkable again I dare not predict, but the problems will persist at least over the weekend," engineer Tomas Olsson told Swedish Radio News.

Recent public health outbreaks concerning contaminated drinking water have occurred in Skellefteå and Umeå.
