"discussions about his future"

Moderate official suspended due to Twitter comment

Published söndag 26 augusti 2012 kl 11.12

The man responsible for the conservative Moderate Party's official Twitter account has been suspended following a comment on his personal account.

He called social democrat politician Nalin Pekgul, who has Kurdish roots, a "klappturk" or "applauding Turk" in an online discussion, TT reports.

The phrase has been used before in racists threads on the net to describe Pekgul.

The official apologised immediately and deleted the offending tweet, but party bosses have decided to suspend him, while his future is discussed.

Party press officer Jesper Wigardt told TT, "It was an unsuitable comment. He didn't mean anything bad by it, but it was unfortunate."
