Swede detained for planned Berlin bombing
A 47-year-old member of a Swedish motorcycle gang has been remanded in custody in Germany, on suspicion of planning a bombing there.
The man, a member of the Bandidos gang, was detained with two Danes when the three drove off the ferry in Rostock in early July. In their vehicle the German police found explosives, a detonator, and bullet proof vests.
According to the newspaper Berliner Morgenblatt, the police believe they were planning an attack against the rival Hells Angels in Berlin.
The TT news agency says that four years ago the Swede was arrested with several other men, in Malmö in southern Sweden, with 70 kilograms of dynamite. He was sentenced then to six months imprisonment.
