Swedish NHL player ban is found to be "illegal"
The Swedish competition authority has decided that the Swedish hockey league's ban on short-term loans of NHL ice hockey players in the Swedish Elitserien is illegal.
The authority's decision means that it is up to the clubs themselves if they want to sign up NHL players for a few months. NHL players have been locked out from playing in North America at the moment due to disagreements there between club owners and the player's union.
The hockey league wanted to stop the players coming over, saying the practice temporarily gives clubs a boost and makes the end of the season less exciting when the NHL have already gone back to North America.
