Extreme case of meningitis kills child
A girl has died of meningitis at Örebro hospital on Saturday night. All the children at her kindergarten have been given antibiotics.
Tabloid Aftonbladet reports that the girl, five years old, had a fever on Friday and by Saturday she was confused, and her parents had found a rash. They called an ambulance but a doctor at Örebro hospital says that "the illness developed extremely quickly. She arrived at the hospital but died only a few hours later", says Hans Fredlund.
He says that other children close to the girl must also carry the bacteria that cause meningitis.
