Police in the central Swedish city of Uppsala have discovered skimming devices on ticket machines at the city's train and bus station. They now fear a large number of people could have had their bank or credit card details stolen, and are recommending travellers to contact their banks and cancel their cards.

The skimmers were attached to the ticket machines and could have copied card details when customers used the machines to buy train or bus tickets.

Police say this is the first time they have found skimmers on ticket machines, and do not know how long they have been there, news agency TT reports.

The skimmers were discovered by a passenger who noticed that something was loose on the machine the passenger was using.
