Some well-known singers will compete in the 2013 edition of Melodifestivalen, whose winner gets to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö next spring.
The soul vocalist Eric Gadd, actor and writer Rickard Wolff and the singer Louise Hoffsten are some of the names performing in this year's event, Swedish Television announced on Monday.
Christer Björkman, head of the event, tells newspaper Svenska Dagbladet he is glad to see a mix of established artists and promising, younger talents in the lineup.
"It is always a pleasure to get so many new artists, both younger stars and established ones. You get happy with the work you've put in, to see it finally pay off. It's a great pleasure," Björkman says.
Sean Banan, David Lindgren and the trio Pernilla Wahlgren, Jenny Silver and Hanna Hedlund return to the song contest after partaking in the past.
The southern town of Karlskrona will host the first qualifier on 2 February. The final will be held at Friends Arena in Stockholm on 9 March.
