The Swedish electronic dance trio The Swedish House Mafia is this evening playing the first of three consecutive farewell concerts in Stockholm at the new Friends Arena. DJs and producers Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso have produced a string of international dance hits since they formed in Stockholm in late 2008.
In June this year, the trio announced on their website that this year's tour would be their last together before a hiatus. They wrote then, "Today we want to share with you, that the tour we are about to go on will be our last. We want to thank every single one of you that came with us on this journey. We came, we raved, we loved".
Their two biggest songs ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ and ‘Save The World’ both reached number one on the US dance chart.
35,000 people will pack into the Friends Arena in Solna, Stockholm on three consecutive nights to watch the supergroup. The national football stadium is just a short distance from the old national Råsunda stadium which hosts its final football match also this evening. Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
