Police have arrested 27 of the estimated 500 young people who gathered at a Gothenburg high school to protest about pupils being subjected to abusive comments on the internet. A 17-year-old girl has also been taken for questioning, suspected of publishing the images and insulting comments themselves.

The streets were filled with people from Tuesday morning outside Plusgymnasiet, after a Facebook group called for action. The protest spread later to the nearby Nordstan shopping mall. People fought on the streets and also threw stones at police cars.

The principal of the school says that it will be closed on wednesday "they have started a new Facebook group, where it says that the same thing is going to happen tomorrow" says Paula Hammerskog to news agency TT. She says the school management will make a new decision on wednesday, after talking to the police.
