Speaking to the press in Stockholm, Petra announced she intended to bring warmth and humour to the competition, adding that she would look to previous hosts such as Lill Lindfors and Åse Kleveland for inspiration. She also promises the odd surprise.
It will be the first time in 18 years the much-viewed program will have a single host, rather than two or three. Mede says she hopes this will make it easier to get a connection with the hundred million tv viewers around Europe.
The Eurovision takes place in Malmö in May.
