A new vaccine against the tick-borne Lyme disease is on its way, according to Swedish researchers.

Over ten thousand people are infected by the disease each year in Sweden, and while most only suffer mild symptoms, some can face long-term nerve damage by the bug.

The researchers say the vaccine against the European form of the disease is now ready to be tested on around 15 thousand people before being released onto the market in three or four years, Swedish Radio News reports.
