New trend: Adults-only hotels
Travel agents have noticed more people wanting to take a holiday where they are guaranteed a place free from children. Charter companies now offer more hotels with age limits, reports Swedish Radio News.
They are called “Adult Hotels” by Swedish charter companies. Holidays for singles have always been part of the market, but now it pays to offer peace and quiet to parents wanting a break.
Hotels that only allow guests aged 16 or olderis the charter branch’s fastest growing segment here in Sweden and internationally. These type of hotels offers spas, gyms and quiet atmospheres.
“No pool splashing and playing, and a quiet breakfast room – these features are very much appreciated,” says Magdelna Öhrn at travel company Vingresor.
Öhrn says Vingresor has plans to develop the concept. Currently they have 12 sites offering "Adult Hotels".
Swedish charter company Fritidsresor began this concept in 2005 with 12 hotels offering the adult-only experience, and now 30 of their close to 1000 hotels offer this.
“Many of our customers are couples who don’t have children, or who do have children and just want a peaceful holiday alone together, “says Therese Wahlund at Fritidsresor.
