African Union's human rights commission to take up Dawit Isaak case
The African Union's human rights body will be taking up the case of Dawit Isaak, says Reporters Without Border in a press release.
The Swedish-Eritrean journalist Isaak has been behind bars since September 2001, for writing articles critical of the government.
Jonathan Lundqvist, chair of the Swedish section of Reporters Without Borders, says this is an "important step forward and will increase the pressure on the Eritrean government".
The African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights will begin by asking Eritrea why its supreme court refused a case from two lawyers from Reporters Without Borders.
