Deadline looms for construction strike talks
Three thousand construction workers could begin a strike on Tuesday unless the workers' union Byggnads and employers represented by Svenska Byggindustrier come to terms on Sunday evening, reports news agency TT.
A key condition for Byggnads is that construction companies ensure that all subcontractors involved in a project offer employment conditions in line with collective bargaining agreements.
Speaking to TT on Sunday morning, both sides said they would wait until 8 P.M. to respond to a settlement proposed by mediators on Saturday.
The strike could affect 160 construction sites, among them the new Karolinska hospital in Solna and work on the E4 motorway around Sundsvall and Umeå airport.
