Stomach bug outbreak at Skaraborg hospital
Five hospital wards at Skaraborg Hospital have stopped taking in new patients because of an outbreak of stomach flu, Swedish Radio news reports. The hospital is now prioritising serious operations, and others with planned operations may have to wait.
The hospital's head of medicine, Ulf Nyberg, says that the situation has been tough during the weekend. Patients who have fallen in with the stomach bug or norovirus, have been quarantined from the rest of the hospital.
Nyberg hopes that the situation will improve soon. He says that cancelled operations are primarily hip and knee surgeries and gall stone removals.
