Swedish frigate in pirate drama
Somalian pirates hijacked an Indian cargo ship when Swedish warship HMS Carlskrona intervened, reports tabloid Aftonbladet.
After a night of negotiations, the pirates chose to steer towards Somalia - and leave the cargo ship.
"The most important thing is that we did good, we solved a task and helped save the 14 Indians on board," says Anders Kallin, CIO at HMS Carlskrona to Aftonbladet.
The small cargo ship, with a 14 man crew and nearly 200 cows in the load was hijacked by Somali pirates on Wednesday.
The alarm was received under the management of the EU operation EU NAVFOR which is tasked to guard the Somali coast and prevent pirate attacks.
