Enterprise ministry "no comment" on expenses scandal

Published onsdag 12 juni 2013 kl 08.59
Annie Lööf became Enterprise Minister after the previous Center Party leaders stood down following the 2010 election

Enterprise Minister Annie Lööf, and her department, do not want to answer any more questions about an alleged cover up of a party for political aides, paid for by the department’s expenses account.

The head of the Parliament’s Constitutional Committee says he presumes this means Annie Lööf has, once again, presented false information “There’s no other interpretation”, says Peter Eriksson to Swedish Radio News.

In 2012 Lööf’s political staff, from the Center Party, were treated to a reception paid for by the Ministry’s expenses budget, which is not supposed to be used for political purposes.

Minister Lööf says that her own staff realized that a mistake had been made, and were on track to correct it. But the ministry has now refused to share any documents or emails relating to this with the Constitutional Committee, leading to the committee’s chair, the Green Party's Peter Eriksson, to assume that she was not telling the truth.

The Enterprise Ministry is also refusing to answer questions from Swedish Radio News on this matter.
