Three found guilty of "exorcism" appeal to highest court

Published onsdag 12 juni 2013 kl 14.36

Three people recently found guilty and sentenced to prison by Sweden's Court of Appeals for performing an exorcism on a 12-year-old girl are appealing the ruling to the Supreme Court, reports news agency TT.

The 12-year-old girl's stepfather was sentenced to two years and six months, the mother to two years and three months, and their pastor to one year and three months.

Two weeks ago the Appeals Court went against an earlier decision by Borås District Court, which did not believe the girl's story of abuse.

Two more parents are also on trial and accused of abusing their girl in the guise of an exorcism. In both cases the accused live in Borås, with a background in Central Africa.
