Persson: N. Korean Leaders Act Irrationally

Published fredag 11 februari 2005 kl 11.33
Prime Minister Göran Persson

Swedish Prime Minister Göran Persson is deeply concerned over the situation in North Korea after the country for the first time openly admitted to having nuclear weapons and pulled out indefinitely from disarmament talks.

Persson said that ”it is completely impossible to judge North Korea from the outside” adding that the country’s leaders act ”irrationally.”

North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said on Thursday the state had been forced to boost its defences and to acquire nuclear weapons to contend with U.S. hostility and the policy of the Bush administration to seek a change in regime.
