Hockey Players Quit Amidst Accusations of Sexual Assault

Published fredag 11 februari 2005 kl 11.41

Three members of Sweden’s national ice hockey team Tre Kronor quit on Friday, a day after they were questioned by police about an alleged sexual assault against a 21-year-old woman.

The three players were questioned Thursday night and then released. None were charged by police.

Police said the three players had been questioned about the alleged assault, which reportedly happened at the same hotel the players and their team mates were staying at in the capital, Stockholm.

The players missed the first game of the Sweden Hockey Games tournament because of the police questioning.

Sweden went on to beat the Czech Republic 3-2.
