Petrol stations discriminated against Roma

Published torsdag 27 juni 2013 kl 11.13

The Swedish Discrimination Ombudsman, DO, has said that several cases where persons of Roma descent were not allowed to rent cars at petrol stations constituted discrimination.

Swedish Radio News reported on several instances last fall when Roma people tried to rent cars at various petrol stations in Sweden. They were told there were no cars available. When the radio reporter asked the same question a little later, cars were available.

The discrimination Ombudsman has looked into the events and decided it is indeed discrimination. The case could lead to an indictment.
