Call for better labelling after Hepatitus berries

Published söndag 7 juli 2013 kl 13.58
Warning to boil frozen berries

Following an outbreak of Hepatitus A in the Nordic region caused by frozen strawberries from Egypt and Morocco, the Swedish Cooperative’s grocery chain is considering labelling such products for country of origin.

Currently, while fresh fruit and produce sold here have to have their origins clearly displayed, there is no such requirement for frozen fruit or vegetables.

Both the cooperative chain Coop and their largest competitor Ica were forced to recall frozen berries from Egypt and Morocco earlier this year.
