Spain top spot for Swedes buying holiday homes
One in 10 Swedish city-dwellers owns a holiday home abroad and just as many plan to buy one in the next five years, according to a survey by the Swedbank-owned Real Estate Bureau (Fastighetsbyrån).
Sinking real estate prices, a strong Swedish krona and cheap flights were listed as the reasons why Spain is the most popular country among Swedes purchasing foreign holiday homes.
The second most popular destination is Portugal, followed by France.
A total of 1,000 Swedes aged between 35 to 65 and living in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö took part in the survey.
