Football feud caused battle with baseball bats

Published tisdag 9 juli 2013 kl 11.05

A large fight broke out late Monday in Växjö in southern Sweden. According to police, between 30 and 40 people fought with baseball bats and bludgeons. Both men, women and children took part in the fight.

A few people had to be taken to hospital for minor injuries. There were no arrests made and newspaper Smålandsposten writes that the motive for the fight is unknown.

Police told tabloid Aftonbladet that the fight started during a football game in a residential area.

"It was a football game that went out of hand, it derailed completely. But we don't know what made the fight start, the investigation will tell," said Daniel Keder from the police in Växjö.
