A Norwegian man is suspected of attempted manslaughter, drink driving and theft after reportedly stealing dump truck on Saturday morning and driving it recklessly on a country road and in the forest in Värmland province, western Sweden.

The truck theft was spotted by security guards patrolling a construction site nearby. Police told news agency TT the truck drove up from the forest and headed towards the guards' car, forcing them to reverse at a high speed.

After an hour, the man got stuck with the vehicle and police were able to locate him. "He drove recklessly in the forest and on the road. It could have ended badly," said local police officer Morgan Connerdal.

The man was to intoxicated to be questioned after his arrest.
