Theme park abduction suspect still in custody
A man who was arrested Friday at Liseberg theme park in Gothenburg suspected of attempting to abduct a 10-year-old child remains in police custody.
The man, who has no previous ties to the child, was arrested on the scene after the child was freed by a relative. "He will be interrogated during the day," says Jenny Widén, spokeswoman for the Västra Götaland police, speaking to news agency TT.
By Monday, the man, who is in his 30's, will need to either be remanded in custody by a prosecutor or set free.
"As far as I know, nothing like this has happened before," said Anders Fridehäll, the head of the park. "We patrol the park, both at the entrance and elsewhere, so we're prepared for most things. Guards took care of the man after the child's family stepped in."
