Teenager appeals Instagram-trial ruling
One of the two teenage girls convicted for slander in the so-called Instagram trial in Gothenburg has appealed against her sentence.
The 15-year-old girl, who denied the crime, is demanding that the damages be lowered. Her legal guardian has urged the Court of Appeal to grant her an exemption, or at least to lower the amount.
The other girl, who is 16 years old, will not appeal the sentence, her lawyer, Claes Östlund, said.
"She accepts the sentence as it stands," Östlund told news agency TT.
The girls and their guardians were ordered to pay nearly half a million Swedish kronas to 38 plaintiffs.
