Fire alert for southern and central Sweden
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute SMHI has warned of a high risk of ground and forest fires, due to persistent dry weather in southern and central Sweden.
There is already a ban on bonfires and barbecues in large parts of the Skåne and Blekinge regions in the south.
"Precipitation levels in July are quite far below normal," SMHI meteorologist Sofia Söderberg told news agency TT.
Some rain is expected in central Sweden over the weekend, but the dry weather looks set to continue in the south.
