Swedish Television Västerbotton reports that the woman taken to hospital after a shooting in Umeå has died. SVT says the victim's relatives have been informed.

Neither police nor hospital will confirm these reports, saying only that they will release more information later in the afternoon.

The shooting happened around 7 AM. The northern city's station, and other parts of the city, was sealed by police for an investigation.

Police have been tight-lipped on the incident, only confirming to news agency TT that it was a shooting as late as 1 PM.

Umeå FC youth team was at the station. "We heard a shot and then saw a woman who had been hit. It was the worst moment of my life," says one of the players to TT

The night train from Stockholm was delayed for an hour, as was a Norrtåg train.
