Two men have been charged with murder, after a young woman was shot dead at Umeå station on Saturday morning. A police spokesman says the two men were arrested late Saturday evening.

Newspaper Dagens Nyheter reports the men are aged under 30 and resident in Umeå. The police says they do not want to comment on any possible motive for the shooting, nor say whether the men were already known to police.

"I don't know whether they are suspected of being the perpetrators, or whether they are suspected of aiding or protecting a criminal," says Uno Nilsson at Umeå police to news agency TT.

Around the same time as the station shooting, shots were fired at a house in the Ersboda area of Umeå. Uno Nilsson says to Dagens Nyheter they still do not know whether there was any link between the two incidents, "but we are, of course, investigating if there is a connection."
