Bildt supports EU on Hizbollah
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has expressed his support for the EU's decision to class the military wing of Hizbollah as a terrorist organisation.
Speaking to Swedish Radio News, Bildt said that there are at least two cases of Hizbollah planning and carrying out terror attacks in the EU. One of these was carried out in Bulgaria, when five Israeli tourists were killed. The group also made plans to attack Israeli tourists on Cyprus.
Bildt said such actions could not be tolerated. He also indicated the difficultly of distinguishing between Hizbollah's military and political wings. The EU will continue to maintain its links with Hizbollah's political wing.
The EU's move can lead to the seizure of all Hizbollah's military wing's assets in the EU. Members of the military wing will also be denied entry to the 28-country bloc.
