Sweden is preparing to face favourites Germany in the first semi-final of the Women's European Football Championships tonight in Gothenburg.

After a shaky start to the competition, and a 1-all draw with Nordic neighbours Denmark, Sweden found form, beating Finland 5-nil, Italy 3-1 and most recently Iceland 4-nil in Sunday's quarter-final match.

A tougher test awaits Sweden this evening however, with Germany, who have won the tournament six consecutive times, and are widely tipped to win again this year.

The Nordic nations have performed well in the tournament, with Denmark playing Norway in the other semi-final on Thursday.

The final will be held in Stockholm on Sunday, July 28th.
