Swedish weapons inspector arrives in Syria

Published onsdag 24 juli 2013 kl 14.22

Swedish scientist and weapons expert Åke Sellström, and Angela Kane, the UN High Representative for Disarmament, have arrived in Syria to investigate whether chemical weapons have been used during the country's long-running civil war.

According to the TT news agency, although the Syrian regime has granted permission for the pair to visit sites in Aleppo, their work may be complicated as, according to anonymous UN sources, Aleppo fell into rebel hands on Monday.
