Åke Strömmer Dead at 68
Åke Strömmer, the popular Swedish sports reporter who also wrote comedy and talk shows, has died of cancer at the age of 68.
Strömmer started his career at the Västernorrlands Allehanda newspaper in 1957 and joined Swedish Radio six years later as a sports reporter. He was sports editor for Swedish Radio from 1974 to 1978.
In 1980 he received the Swedish Journalist Prize for ”his masterly running commentaries characterized by insight, knowledge, humor and narrative art.”
