Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been included in Fifa's 23-man list of contenders for the Ballon d’Or award, but remains a long-shot to win having missed out on the World Cup and Champions League glory in 2014.

The list of candidates for the World's best player award, which was released on Tuesday, contains 6 players from Germany, who of course won the World Cup in Brazil. But it's Cristiano Ronaldo who led Real Madrid to victory in the Champions League, who remains the outstanding favourite.

Sweden's captain Zlatan, had an outstanding year domestically for his club side PSG and almost carried Sweden to the World Cup finals, only to lose out to a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Portugal in the play-offs.

The list for the Ballon d'Or will be reduced to three on 1 December, with the winner announced in Zurich on 12 January.
