Moderate party leadership battle hots up
The Moderate Party in Västernorrland, in northern Sweden, are to nominate Tomas Tobé and Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd as successors to the outgoing Moderate Party leader Fredrik Reinfeldt, even though both have previously said they were not interested in the job.
Local newspaper Allehanda says the local party wanted a "rural perspective" for the national party leadership.
The current favourite to take over the leadership at a special party conference in the spring next year is Stockholm's Anna Kinberg Batra, she has been nominated by several regions already, as well as the youth wing of the centre-right party. The party districts have until November 14 to make their nominations.
